Motherhood was great, but grandparenthood is awesome. And no I do not use that word a lot.

Since 1971, I have had lots of lives. Travelling the western world in my twenties (first loving it, latterly feeling bit lost), marriage & family (putting the brakes on everything else through my thirties and forties), my writing career taking off despite it all (my books in book shops windows! Bizarre, in a good way), divorce after 25 years (not recommended lightly. Hell, in fact), romance again (and again), remarriage (highly recommended), and now this phase. A 60 something novelist granny, with playwright husband who refuses to retire at age 68. My most recent novel, just published and set in San Rafael. Wait for Me Jack is published under Addison Jones (middle and maiden name) because I am starting to feel more and more like my original self. Rewinding...

I remember father Pettingel teaching English, especially T.S.Elliot, The Wasteland. One day he picked his nose openly, then offered his snotty fingers to the class and said (with wry smile): Hors d'ouvres anyone?

We had some great bands at the dances. Sons of Champlin (sp?), etc. Great era, musically, to be young.

I also remember feeling that I did not fit in, but flitted on the outskirts of several cliques. The heads, the brains, not the athletic bunch. I was in awe of the popular girls.
